For Ex-Mormons

If you have recently left the LDS church or another high-control religious environment, you may want to take time to process that experience before pursuing a new religious path (if, indeed, you decide to pursue religion at all). The wounds left by religious trauma are deep, and they take a long time to heal. Have patience and compassion for yourself as you discover a new identity outside of the religious community you’ve known. It’s okay to feel doubt, shame, anger, and fear—but at the same time, it’s also perfectly normal to feel relief, joy, and hope. Leaving high-control religion puts you in charge of shaping your own life; that’s a scary responsibility, but it also means that you get to choose to live the life that fulfills and nourishes you.

If you are ex-Mormon (or coming from any other religious background) and interested in pursuing Gardnerian Wicca in Salt Lake City, you are heartily encouraged to reach out to the Wasatch Coven. If you decide that this path isn't what you're looking for, that's also perfectly okay; the most important thing is that you find what's right for you. Regardless of whether you want to practice Wicca, the resources below are intended to serve as a starting point for healing from religious trauma and claiming a joyful life.
